Since September 2016 I have been responsible for QA – or quality – at SelektMeat. This can be extremely wide-ranging, for example, from anything which is self-evidently quality-related, to other aspects, which leave you scratching your head and asking yourself, so what does that have to do with quality? Hygiene is an obvious quality issue for example. We produce critical products, so hygiene always has to score an 8 or more. Food safety is always priority number one. Random internal checks for germ counts, swab tests, checks on ingredients and whatever we put on our labelling: it all has to be correct. Maintaining contact on these issues with our PL clients is part of this. To put it simply, it’s a job with a lot of variation and allows me to have my say.
